Four products here are torsion bars: a steel spring bent into an arc.
Two are hydraulic cylinders: a knob, a sealed piston.
This one is compression: four springs squeezed straight.
Three genuinely different machines sold under one search term, and this is the
only listing that explains its own mechanism by contrasting it with the others.
What a linear path changes
The maker’s claim, and it follows from the geometry.
Bending a bar means the hands travel through an arc: they start apart and
rotate toward each other around the bend. Pressing four parallel springs means
the hands travel straight toward each other.
For the chest, a straight path is closer to what a press does. The maker also
claims a greater range of motion, which is what a straight line buys over an
arc between the same two endpoints.

Four springs spread the load and — more usefully — keep the two ends parallel
as they close. One spring pushed off-centre bows sideways, and the movement
stops being repeatable.
