Springs or bungees, and a diameter that is measured two ways
The best fitness trampolines for 2026
A fitness trampoline — a rebounder — is a small frame with a mat and a suspension system, and the suspension is the fork in the road. Steel springs are cheap, durable and audible; they give a firm, fast bounce and they are the noisy option in a flat. Elastic bungees are quieter and softer, they wear and stretch with use, and the good ones are replaceable and sold as spares — whether they are is worth checking before buying, because a rebounder with unavailable bungees is disposable. The second thing to read carefully is the diameter, because it is published two ways: the frame diameter and the jumping surface are different figures, and a 122 cm frame gives a mat well under a metre. The one that matters for use is the mat. Then the published user weight, which on a rebounder is a dynamic load and should be stated as such. The legs — how many, whether they screw in or fold, and what caps them — decide how it sits on a hard floor and whether it marks it. A handlebar is an option on most models and the only thing that makes a rebounder usable by someone with balance problems; where it is adjustable, the height range is published. And the folded size, since folding is the reason to choose this over a treadmill at all. We compare diameter, suspension type, frame height, max user weight, folded size and handle bar.
